Trex FAQ.
-
Composite decking is made from recycled and reclaimed sawdust and plastic.
It outperforms traditional timber and is far more sustainable. Composite decking can also achieve a high-end aesthetic resembling real wood, which stands it apart from PVC decking options.
-
Trex is high-performance
Trex composite decking is the perfect option for seasoned gardeners. Unlike traditional timber, it doesn’t warp, rot or split.
It’s mould resistant and doesn’t fade or stain. Selected Trex ranges also come with unique heat-mitigating technology*, which means the deck boards feel cooler underfoot.
It’s low-maintenance
With Trex, there’s no need to sand, stain, seal or paint. Simply wash with soapy water. That’s it.
And it’s sustainable
Made using up to 95% recycled and reclaimed materials, Trex is helping to make gardens across the country a little greener.

When it comes to cleaning, all you need is warm water mixed with a mild washing-up liquid. That’s it!
Use a hose to spray off dirt and debris before cleaning each board with a soft bristle brush to avoid scratching the deck.
While you can use a pressure washer to clean composite decking, it must be on a setting no greater than 3100 psi and used with a fan attachment no closer than 20 centimetres from the decking surface. Rinse thoroughly to avoid any dirty water drying and leaving a film on the decking.
It’s worth sweeping your deck regularly to prevent the build-up of dirt and debris. Food spillages need to be cleaned quickly to avoid staining but again, that’s easily done with soap and water.
-
Trex performs better than a traditional timber deck as it doesn’t build up any mould or algae, elements which can make timber decking slippery.
Although Trex isn’t advertised as low-slip, it can be classed as low-slip in dry conditions and moderate-slip in wet conditions
-
Trex can be installed onto concrete, pedestals can be placed onto the concrete which supports the frame and decking.
*Although Trex decking products with heat-mitigating technology are designed to be cooler than most other composite decking products of a similar colour, on a hot sunny day, they will get hot and care should be taken.
