A week in the life of a Social and Content Executive

If there's one thing I can guarantee about my role at Pace, it’s that no two days are ever the same. One minute I’m brainstorming wild and bold content ideas for our clients and the next I’m forcing the team into singing Britney Spears or lip syncing to the iconic Abby Lee Miller for our next viral TikTok video.

If you think that’s as random as it gets - think again. I’ve also found myself approaching complete strangers on the street, offering them chocolates as part of a random act of kindness campaign. It’s all in a week’s work!

Creating scroll-stopping content

My job revolves around making sure our clients' social content is engaging, fresh and most importantly, scroll-stopping. All whilst sticking to multiple tone of voice documents and brand guidelines.

A typical week for me involves monthly content planning, creating content calendars, writing creative briefs, putting together the shot lists for upcoming social shoots, producing content, occasional editing and finally, scheduling it all to go live.

At the moment, I manage social content for six clients, so things can get pretty full on – but that’s exactly how I like it!

Creative decision making

Some weeks are more chaotic than others, especially when social shoots are involved. One day, I can be filming a competition winner announcement at a credit management company, the next I’ll be capturing lifestyle content at a picturesque holiday home, and by the end of the week I’m at a plumbers’ merchant for an event shoot.

It’s a mix of creative yet quick decision making and a lot of running around, but that’s what keeps it exciting. And of course, amidst the madness, there’s always the thrill of seeing a post take off.

Filming anything and everything for content

Social media might be online, but trust me, the chaos behind the scenes is very much real life. Between creating content for our clients, I get to film just about anything and everything for Pace all in the name of ‘content creation’.

From catching my colleagues taking an unexpected tumble during a game of rounders, to showcasing their questionable artistic talents at pottery painting, there’s never a dull moment.

My personal favourite? Watching our operations manager Katie slowly glide down the escalator in Princes Quay Shopping Centre, proudly holding a sign reading, “Have you tracked your time?” – a truly iconic moment.
